Rev. Rebecca Highfield, Minister February 2012
Making God's Priorities Your Priorities Christians have always taken pride in certain values. We are called to be moral; obeying the commandments of God and following the teachings of Christ. As faithful Christians we do our best to live by these principles of our faith, letting them guide our thoughts and actions. At the same time, we live in a society with its own priorities that are appealing but do not always agree with the Christian message. These cultural values are so entrenched in us that it can be hard to discern the true values that God calls us to uphold. During Lent, the season of deep spiritual inspection, we will look at how Christ calls us to be people of integrity in a world that does not always encourage our Christian values. Over the course of 6 weeks we will call out the biggest challenges we face in our efforts to be faithful disciples. This will include looking at our own personal sins, the communal sins that have attracted our attention, and the priorities that shape our lives. We will then see how Christ provides us with a new set of priorities and calls us to live by the values of God's kingdom, ultimately providing us with a path toward spiritual peace. Join us each week!
